What is Bubble Tea?
  • Bubble tea is a popular tea drink from Taiwan that is made using tapioca pearls. The tapioca pearls are chewy and are usually seen at the bottom of the cup, the tea is poured over the pearls. Boba tea and bubble tea are essentially the same thing, and are used generally interchangeably in different parts of the world. According to Bubble Teaology, the term “bubbles” refers to the “bubbles” produced when shaking tea, not the tapioca pearls at the bottom of the cup. Most people, however, associate bubble tea with the tapioca pearls that we eat.

No usage of powdered creamers is also a fundamental concept at SHAKING TANG; we only use fresh milk and cream to produce healthy bubble tea! Fruit tea also differs, since it can be milk-based. Fruit teas are infused with actual fruit or have cane syrup added to them. Consider your standard passion fruit or mango teas combined with a black tea or green tea base.
